I haven't eaten at this cafe but the eclectic decor is interesting

The alley back door entrance to a tattoo/body piercing parlour did not tempt me to partake but my camera loved the experience

Across the lane from the red building in the picture below was this face and peeling paint. I have no idea what its origins were but it intrigued me.

This building was down an alley near where the Olympic village now sits. Quite a change in scenery!

The side of the Seymour Street off ramp was a source of art until recently. Another step in the changing city landscape.

I find beauty in the urban clutter. Hydro is spending over $70 million to remove it from our alleys.
It will make a positive impact on the city but I mourn the loss of character.

This barge was parked next to the poles near science world. The rough textures and deep colours caught my eye.

A departure from ,y normal style of photos but the serenity of the scene called for it. This is the seawall that goes on for miles around the city. Today with the cooler temperatures it was mostly the dog owners on it but these two braved the cooler air. Cooler is 9 degrees centigrade here. We are not fond of truly cold weather here. Some people have been known to call us wimps :-)

An incredible collection of street art is below the bridges and on the ramps. This collection was on the Seymour Street off ramp from the Granville Street bridge.

This is a door behind the Equinox project space gallery. A great place for art inside and an inspiring space outside too!

This part of Hastings street is the poorest postal code in Canada $$ wise, but the area is changing and if nothing else it is rich in character, people, emotions and it is always interesting

Macleods bookstore on Pender street is a a fabulous store both inside and out for great finds

The maze of pipes, coloured walls, wooden poles always attracts me.

Look closely and you'll see a face looking back in the window. What thoughts pass through the air...

This is the side of a building near the Olympic Village. The pattern of the painted paint reminds me of a national flag. The colours and textures drew me in.

The Avalon is still there on Pender Street. Lots of character and lots of stories

Granville St used to be "grungy" now it's "edgy" and it's heading for "trendy"...

When wandering, a left turn down an alley can lead to an unexpected find...

This caught my eye on one of my wanderings. I like the contrast of the neutral with the bright yellow

The beginning

My city is truly beautiful and there is beauty in the grittier side of it. This gritty side is disappearing quickly with the gentrification. I hope to capture much of this "other" beauty before it is lost forever.
